Old Mcbrayer bottled in bond
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 20, 2021 (edited October 29, 2022)Ghill already noted the source + many details. Overall pleasant sipper. Nose needs some air to open up. Fairly smooth, with lots of caramel and butterscotch. No taste surprises. The longer I sit here and sip while considering this pour, the more I am enjoying it. Not a long finish, but that is when I notice some oak and cake spice. I like it. -
Calumet Farm 15 Year Single Rack Black Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 9, 2021 (edited December 22, 2021)Nose is all sweet pancakes and syrup. You’ll notice a bit of heat from the 105 proof on your first taste, followed by a wide flood of warm, buttery pancakes and a tad of banana bread that lingers on for a nice long time. Really pleasant experience. -
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 3, 2021 (edited August 10, 2021)To me, B520 is about as good as it gets! Tried a C batch that I didn’t like at all, but B520, for those that enjoy higher proofs, has everything you want in bourbon: great nose, mouth feel, long finish, and such depth of flavor. -
WH. McBrayer Bourbon Whiskey Small Batch Barrel Strength
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 3, 2021103 octane = a bit of heat up front. Brown sugar, caramel, tobacco, leather and a little vanilla and nut in the overtones. Fairly long finish where you get more tobacco and leather. Very pleasant overall and does not taste like a young bourbon = More complex than expected. Amazing first release. Second release should be around December. -
Boone County 7 Year Single Barrel Wheated Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 8, 2020 (edited October 1, 2021)Super oily and busting with flavor: very smooth for such a high proof. Nose is caramel and butterscotch. Spice is the first flavor noticed. Light spearmint, vanilla and sweet caramel then flow across your tastebuds. Long warm finish of lightly burnt caramel. -
Caribou Crossing Single Barrel Canadian Whisky
Canadian — Canada
Reviewed April 26, 2020 (edited January 15, 2021)Really smooth with lots of vanilla and carmel flavor notes. Sweet = yes. Little burn, as expected at just 80 proof. Finish is fairly quick. Great choice for someone new to bourbon because it is so enjoyable but not complex. First experience was a pleasant one.
