Johnny Drum Private Stock Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 9, 2016 (edited April 19, 2016)It has a flavor and nose like I haven't had before. Neat breathed for 5 mins. After a few sips: big red (cinnamon) and vanilla on the nose. Maybe a little cherry. Spicy yet smooth. Recommended. Really worth it. -
Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 6, 2016 (edited February 18, 2016)When I first opened my bottle (2006 Barrel) I was overwhelmed by a strong alcohol odor. I let it breath for a few minutes and that dissipated. The nose is full of caramel, vanilla orange peel and leather. It has a full flavor and a strong mouth burn, but nothing crazy. I would put this up against many other expensive bottles. I paid $26. I can't say that it compares to anything more expensive, mainly because it has its own unique taste. Find it, buy it. -
Larceny Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 20, 2015 (edited February 17, 2016)Not great. I prefer to drink my bourbon with an ice cube or two. I tried this after having a glass of E. h Taylor and a sniff of the cork and bottle really don't give this much of an aroma at all to me. After letting it open up for a few minutes I can smell distinct vanilla and sweet notes, maybe burnt sugar or caramel. This is not my go to bourbon, and probably won't buy again after finishing this bottle. I would rather spend my $25-$30 on a bottle of McKenna Bottled-In-Bond, a 10-year 100-proof, single barrel. The McKenna is a better bang for your buck in my opinion. It seems that most people like this bourbon and it is highly recommended, so I look forward to seeing if it opens up a bit after sitting on the shelf for a month or two. -
Henry McKenna 10 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 25, 2015 (edited October 17, 2017)This is my first taste of a Bottled in Bond bourbon. At 100 proof it definitely has the burn, but add some ice and you're good to go. Has a pretty good amount of flavor for a relatively cheap price. Great straight and stands up to being mixed very well. I enjoy this bourbon more than many others, and I recommend giving it a try!
