This is first try—neat Nose: lots of dried fruit (apricots, cherries), some oak and vanilla, a touch of burnt sugar, peanut brittle. Palate: a bit hot, oak, peanuts, vanilla, baking spices, long finish. Initial impression: I really like this bottle. It’s quite different from most of my whiskeys. Less sweet and heavier on spice, vanilla nuts and dried fruit. Second try—with a little ice Nose seems sweeter with the ice. Maybe a little marshmallow. Fruits are more subdued. Palate: also sweeter, honey comes forward, still nutty and Oaky, vanilla. milder. Overall: I really like it. This is better neat for me. I usually like a cube or two of ice, but the uniqueness of this come out better neat. Price is good and it’s something with its own character. I’d get it again for sure.

Belle Meade Sour Mash Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Tennessee), USA
Reviewed May 17, 2021Nose: neat it began with vanilla, Carmel and later a bit of apple. After adding a cube it made the nose even sweeter with notes of cinnamon roll, vanilla frosting, peanuts and oak. On the palate neat it was again sweet with Carmel, candy corn, corn, cinnamon and pepper. After a cube some clove and oak came out. This is one of the sweetest palated bourbons I’ve ever tasted. It’s almost like a desert with just enough cinnamon, oak and peanut to balance it out. I thought it was delicious and would definitely buy it again.45.0 USD per Bottle -
I enjoyed the nose. Aromas of vanilla, honeysuckle, orange, candy and a bit of cinnamon. I thought the flavor was a letdown. It’s hot for a 90 proof pour, lots of alcohol flavor, and pronounced oak and corn. At $50 there are a lot better choices. It smooths out if you drop a cube in it and let it sit a bit, but still nothing to write home about.50.0 USD per Bottle

First, It’s hot. Yes it’s barrel proof, but it tastes hotter to me than Elijah Craig or Knob Creek barrel proof offerings. Nose was giving me butterscotch, apple, orange peel, vanilla and strangely, dill. Flavors were abundant. Caramel apple, toasted oak, baking spices, cashews and vanilla. And very spicy. Wasn’t quite as smooth as some other barrel proof bourbons, but very good. Too expensive.100.0 USD per Bottle

Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve (Total Wine & More)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 23, 2020Nose gives orange, brown sugar, baking spices, vanilla, char, mint, leather. Awesome. Smoky oak, vanilla, cinnamon, maple syrup on the palate. Spicy and pretty hot due to the proof, but a cube tames it a bit. Excellent. -
