Tastes

Traditional nose. This is like the base straight that was aged and proofed higher. Significantly better, however. I think tastes a little young and lacks enough complexity to really wow me. It’s good to me because its traditional notes and is proofed higher than the straight, and it is good- just not the it bottle.

Light nose. Toasted light caramel. Body: Small graham cracker/cornbread, more complex than the base straight. Dark cherry with more prominence. Finishes longer. Slightly dusty. This is a good bourbon.

Good spice, long finish. Higher than its proof Cherry nose. It’s a decent bourbon and I like the price point and flavor profile. Dark fruit, oak and other traditional notes. Light caramel notes. This is a preferential sipper at a good price point. Good job on the base straight for moonrise 🤝

Banana on the nose. Getting a lot of cinnamon and warm spice. Crem brulee and burnt caramel. Small banana in the body. Burns slow but does not bite

4 because of the price. i had this taste after back to back stagg jr different batches. very very similar flavor profile. just misses the proofier punch. i dont think you can beat this for the price. and i dont think you can beat it for double the price

This bourbon is complete. smooth transition from start to finish. creamy and full. slow onset of the bite, it doesnt bite but warms. It’s smooth like butter, perfectly porous, and completely preferential.

Fruitier notes up front good bite stack of pancakes with warm syrup on the finish this is a top tier bottle imo. worth every penny of the $100. salted pretzel

A light cinnamon oatmeal on the front strawberry syrup finish this is good. i wouldnt for a $100 tho. interested in the next barrell i get to try

A sweet rye, short finish, great flavor. I think that this would make a great mixer due to its short an incomplex profile. Its suprisingly good and deserves a better than average ranking. Easy sipper w/ fine spice

High spice on the nose Warm palate and sweet flavor. No bitter corniness like I feel most rye’s exude (from a bourbon guy) Caramel and toffee behind the spice. This is a warm drink. Best rye I have had since whistlepig 18.
