Westland Garryana 2018 Edition 3.1
American Single Malt — Washington, USA
Reviewed July 27, 2019 (edited September 29, 2020)Really enjoyed the pour of this that I had the other night. More subtle peat than I was expecting (looking at your Ardbeg). A great example of single malts done in the US - keep hitting it out of the park Westland! -

Solid first release. Still a bit young (its a year old after all) but I has none of the unpleasantness one would expect from such a young whiskey. Butter scotch on the nose and some nice baking spice. It's a bit thin and light, but probably a good transition whiskey for those looking to graduate from Crown or TX Blended to real whiskeys. I look forward to their future releases. I gave them a bit more of a bonus since this is their first release and they are a craft distillery actually making their whiskey. I hope they continue to get better.50.0 USD per Bottle

Kilchoman Madeira Cask Matured (2015 Edition)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed July 16, 2019 (edited October 28, 2019)Wow, I really enjoyed this. The madeira blends perfectly with the smoke. I may just be a sucker for smoke, but man - Kilchoman is the most underrated distillery in Scotland -
Ironroot continues to impress me. Lots of mouth feel, but quite a different profile from their other offerings. Black tea, licorice, vanilla, cinnamon, and leather. As with all of my scoring I give a little bump to the craft producers that actually make their whiskey and are transparent about age, etc.45.0 USD per Bottle

Balcones High Plains Texas Single Malt
American Single Malt — Texas, USA
Reviewed June 24, 2019 (edited August 9, 2019)Got my hands on a bottle of this from a friend that went to the distillery release. Big and bold as can be expected with most of the Balcones releases - some of the traditional house flavors with a bit of lighter fruit. I enjoyed this one, but prefer some of the other single barrels I have tried at Total Wine.80.0 USD per Bottle
