Cognac Dudognon Heritage
Cognac — Grande Champagne, France
Reviewed March 14, 2019 (edited March 30, 2022)Old school direct fire cognac. God bless the distillers continuing this age old tradition and basically having to sleep next to the stills. This cognac is round and slightly floral with a beautiful caramel finish.200.0 USD per Bottle -
Ben Milam Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Tennessee (bottled in Texas), USA
Reviewed March 13, 2019 (edited March 23, 2019)A pretty standard bourbon. Obviously sourced though not as apparent on the label as it should be. I look forward to real or more interesting releases from this company.40.0 USD per Bottle -
Treaty Oak Ghost Hill Texas Bourbon
Bourbon — Texas, USA
Reviewed February 28, 2019 (edited March 12, 2019)Perfectly serviceable whiskey. Lacks the boldness and flavor of other top Texas distilleries. Would be a fine mixer, though personally I would like to see it $10 cheaper if I were going to use it for that purpose45.0 USD per Bottle -
Garrison Brothers Texas Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Texas, USA
Reviewed February 27, 2019 (edited March 12, 2019)I have heard so many people love and hate on this whiskey. I'm on the side of not a huge fan. Like some of the other Texas Whiskeys I've had, this one is bold - but in all of the wrong ways. The leather, oak, dryness, and turpentine are too much for me. They should wander up the road to Balcones and take some lessons. Don't wait your money on this one and just get the Balmorhea - that's the only Garrison that should go in your mouth90.0 USD per Bottle -
Ironroot Harbinger XC (90 Proof)
Bourbon — Texas, USA
Reviewed February 22, 2019 (edited July 3, 2020)Having loved the the Harbinger 115 proof, I decided to give this one a shot last night. Beautiful pear on the nose with a big of cinnamon oatmeal and vanilla. Down at 90 proof it loses a bit of the spice that the bigger brother has but rather than the molasses I get more of a fig fruit and red fruits. While I prefer the 115 proof, this is a really enjoyable drink - I am blown away with the flavor of this whiskey for it being only 2 years old - only in Texas.35.0 USD per Bottle -
Balcones Rumble Cask Reserve
Other Sugarcane — Texas, USA
Reviewed February 22, 2019 (edited March 12, 2019)Another spectacular spirit from Balcones. It may not be a whiskey, but has all of the complexity you come to expect out of Balcones. The fig and honey are well pronounced on the nose and while high proof - it is velvety. I like to add a drop of water to take a bit of the edge off.90.0 USD per Bottle -
Laphroaig 21 Year Cask Strength
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed February 20, 2019 (edited August 25, 2022)Cask Strength Laphroaig... enough said! Not as smokey as the 10 but so so so complex. The malt character, fruit, smoke, and citrus notes are wonderfully balanced. It's expensive but wow what a great whisky250.0 USD per Bottle -
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 19, 2019 (edited March 12, 2019)Tasted several batches last night. B918 is a masterpiece - which is why this is getting 5 stars for me. It is everything I want in bourbon - big, bold, vanilla, caramel, and plenty of oak. This hits in all the right places. That being said I have had other versions that aren't the quality of this one.65.0 USD per Bottle
