N: Grape, raspberry, ethanol, oak. T: vanilla, young, dark fruit, candy corn. F: Wax rye spice, pepper. First wave of the finish is weak, and the youthfulness is what stands out. Final finish gets a little more of the rye spice and makes up for the initial disappointment. Still too young for my palate. 6/10

Garrison Brothers Balmorhea Texas Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Texas, USA
Reviewed July 15, 2021 (edited January 24, 2022)Color: Red/ruby Nose: vanilla, cinnamon, bread, red fruit Palate: vanilla, oak, punch of spice diminishes faster than I can process. Red fruit, cherry pie, jam after second sip, still leaves too abruptly. Adding a small cube of ice brings a bitter earthy tone to the nose. Black tea and pepper on the back of the tongue. It’s a decent pour, but not worth the bottle price. -
