Remus Repeal Reserve Series VII (2023 Medley)
Bourbon — Indiana, USA
Reviewed October 4, 2023 (edited May 25, 2024)Color: Golden Honey Nose: Light, subtle sugars, rye Taste: Sweet apple, rye bread, slightly oily mouthfeel but thin, very easy drinker. Finish: Rye spice lingers at the end, fairly mellow finish. Overall: Easy drinker, very balanced with sweetness and rye spice. I had neat, but I could see this being a very crushable pour with an ice cube on a warm day. -

Larceny Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch B523
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 9, 2023 (edited August 4, 2023)Sweet nose, slight bubblegum, a lot of caramel and brown sugar. Some ethanol on the nose, but pleasant. Taste is a caramel, butterscotch bomb. Great mouthfeel, some oak presence, but overall it’s very sweet. Insanely long finish, slightly dry, but a great balance with the sweetness. One of the better Larceny BPs I’ve had in awhile.62.0 USD per Bottle -
Nulu Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Honey Barrels (Seelbachs Pick B819)
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed June 7, 2023Pour: Slightly cloudy, straight golden honey Nose: Complex nose, absolutely sweet. Theres a nutty bready sweetness to it. Some bit-o honey candies. Taste: Thick! Definitely coats your mouth immediately and theres a burst of sugar right away. I don’t necessarily get honey right away, but more of a vanilla sugared donut. Slight banana, and a little spice to cap off the finish at the end. Overall: Super fun drink. A lot to decipher from the nose and taste that keeps you diving back in for another sip. -
Peerless Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon "Smoked Limoncello"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 22, 2023Nose: Brown sugar, caramel, candied corn, light smoke Taste: Vanilla and sweet cream at first, fading to charred oak notes and tobacco. Finish: Some rye spice on the medium length finish. Overall: I love this bottle. I purchased it directly from the distillery on my first trip to KY. I might have 2 pours left of it and will truly miss it. One of the most underrated distilleries in the SiB game. Its an absolute buy whenever I see it. -
Bernheim Barrel Proof Wheat Whiskey A223
Wheat Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 11, 2023 (edited June 30, 2023)Color: Copper color, thin and watery Nose: Sweet, caramel, slight bubble gum. Just overall a lot of sweetness on the nose. Taste: Sweet, a lot of caramel, if I had this blind I would have thought it was bourbon. Finish: There isn’t much to say about the finish. The proof is present, but thats about it. Overall: I think its a great edition to the HH barrel proof releases. Wheat whiskey is not typically my thing, but this drinks much more like a nice wheated bourbon.64.0 USD per Bottle -
Chicken Cock 8 Year Double Oak Kentucky Whiskey
Other Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 26, 2023Color: Golden honey. Lighter than what I’d expect from double oak at 8 years. Nose: Apples, black pepper, pear, light vanilla. Taste: Light sweetness at first, still apples, almost a brandy-like mid palate, rye spice to finish. Overall: If I had to guess I think this is a higher rye whiskey. It’s got a good profile despite it being proofed down. Due to price and lower proof, I’d say it loses some value points, but its still an enjoyable pour.95.0 USD per Bottle -
Pour: Burnt honey, glencairn Nose: Faint orange, cocoa, slight malt, a lot of minor notes, nothing is taking main stage. Pretty complex nose. Taste: Buttercream initially, slight heat but mellows quickly. The oak and age is certainly present on the finish, but it does fade fast. Theres a peppery tingle, like a sichuan peppercorn at the back of the tongue. Overall: Its an initial burst of flavors that take several sips to discover as the finish is quick. With a complex nose, I wanted more from the taste, but still a pleasant pour.
