1. Próspero Blanco Tequila

Tequila Blanco — Tequila Valley, Jalisco, Mexico

This is a very delicious, low price, blanco. Lots of cooked agave on the nose and palate with an almost oily mouth feel. The body is very full like a mescal with a taste similar to other agave species (e.g. chato) but without the smoke.

  2. 4 Copas Tequila Reposado

    Tequila Reposado — Jalisco, Mexico

A bit of a let down compared to their blanco. The very punchy aromas and flavors in the blanco seem muted by the vanilla and other flavors of oak. Very smooth drinking.

  3. 4 Copas Tequila Blanco

My eyes popped when I saw that 98 score in the review and the two dollar signs for the price. Fearing lack of availability, I proceeded to purchase the blanco as well as a reposado and anejo, and the trio arrived yesterday. Popping the cork on the blanco immediately delivered a whiff of fresh agave. The nose and palate offer the grassy and earthy notes of agave as well as a good dose of olive. The finish is very smooth but lacks a bit in duration and complexity. The overall experience is very similar to my favorite blanco, Fuenteseca, but at half the price.
