Color a pleasant pale gold. Nose is beautifully soft and slightly fruity, sweet. Palate starts a little juicy and sweet, some soft cereal oat like flavors build up to a faint spice. Dries out pretty quick, very crisp. Tapers back down to a faint smokiness, with a faint honey like sweetness. Slightly floral overall. Finish isn’t very long, but leaves a subtle and pleasant sweet and Smokey flavor in the back of your mouth. Exceptional single malt. I probably prefer this to the Hakushu 12 but really enjoy them both. Having similarities but find the Hakushu more peaty and smoky and the Yama more floral and sweet overall. A worthy 93/100

Was hesitant due to the Distillate being rice and being a whiskey. Absolutely delicious. Wonderful Sherry bomb. Full in flavor and filled with rich fruity notes. Pleasantly surprised. Not much spice or bite. Has a subtle funk in the finish after the sweet fruitiness has subsided, however enough to make it unpleasant, just noticeable. Will be looking for a bottle to purchase as I tried this in a bar.

Pale Gold in color. Nose has some fruity pear like qualities with a faint spice and smokiness to it. Palate starts with a quick sweet fruitiness, slight caramel, that quickly builds up some spice that slowly tapers off to a middle of the road Smokey peaty flavor. The Peat isn’t in excess but rounds out the sweet fruity flavors up front. Finish is decently slow with some lingering peat and sweetness still. Overall, a very enjoyable pour. Has aspects I would want out of a Scotch, a Bourbon, and with the subtle fruity delicacy I want from a Japanese whisky. A good full rounded whiskey. Well worth the money. 92/100

Rich, Robust, and Full bodied. Reminded me of most George Stagg offerings.

A wheater that lives up to the bottle it’s in. Absolutely delicious juice.

Favorite year of WLW, about as good as a bourbon gets.
