Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series 2021 FAE-01
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 17, 2021 (edited April 3, 2021)Nose is sweet fruit, baking spices. Palate is smooth, oily, with those notes of fruit and a subtle heat. Finish is medium-to-long, and a mid-palate burn lingers. Really nice pour!!64.99 USD per Bottle -
Wilderness Trail 6 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon (Wheated Bourbon)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 3, 2021 (edited April 1, 2021)Nose: unique. Earthy, almost peaty. Do I get a hint of citrus? Behind it is a fantastic oak note Taste: not particularly sweet or hot, which are areas where I’m more comfortable. What remains is nuanced, for sure. On the thinner side in terms of texture, but deep and earthy. I’ll be honest, I’m undecided about whether I like it. Would love to see what this is like uncut. -
Nose: deep and rich, sweet fruit notes. Oaky but not tannic. Not having had it in a long time, it’s really easy to see why I got hooked on this mashbill in the first place. Taste: a bit on the watery side for me in terms of texture, but the complexity makes up for it. Back end of the palate drops off quickly, but what little remains hangs on for a medium finish.

Daviess County Kentucky Straight Bourbon French Oak Finish
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 15, 2021 (edited March 21, 2021)Lighter in color than expected, but not too young. Good complexity and spice for the perceived age and 96 proof. Having a hard time describing the flavors but it’s good enough for me to revisit and try again! Good buy, I recommend it. I’ll update once I can characterize it better! -
Pappy Van Winkle 15 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 29, 2020 (edited February 18, 2020)A bit of front-end spiciness combined with mid- to late-palate sweetness that is pretty abnormal, but in a fun way. Long but limited finish. Great drinker. Would be an absolute anytime pour if it weren’t for the rarity. Very much recommended. Best if shared with someone. Taste, experience (sharing with someone) and rarity make this close to a top 5 pour. -
Michter's 10 Year Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 18, 2019 (edited December 20, 2019)Nose is unassuming. Sort of what I think a typical bourbon should smell like, with no major characteristics standing out to me. Taste: Extremely smooth! Not overly spicy or sweet, and I’m typically sensitive to both. Mid-palate hints of fruit and licorice. I wonder what it would be like at a higher proof (2019 bottle, proof at 94.4). For the price, there are much better options, I’m sure, BUT this one would be great to pull out and share with someone newer to bourbon. A little water opened it up a bit and brought out some spice that gave it a very nice complexity! The price says “special occasion”, but the taste says “anytime”. I recommend adding a touch or water or an ice cube and really enjoy it. -
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch C918
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 12, 2019 (edited January 26, 2020)Wonderful nose. I get semi-sweet, deep, and rich notes. High heat on the back end, which is no surprise considering the proof. A few drops of water lessens the heat and lets the richness shine.
