Tastes

Delicious. Amber to the eye. Vanilla, cinnamon, oak, and corn on the nose. Sweet vanilla, maple, and dark fruits on the palate. Finish is of good duration ending with spice and more cinnamon.

I did not like this dram. It was confusing from start to finish. Smoky, apple, astringent, maple. Though a single malt, it was a blend of smoked woods and a used bourbon cask that compounded what might otherwise have been a palatable whiskey.

Delicious, sweet, smooth, and full. Worth it completely!

Smooth and spicy! Vanilla sweetness melds with orange, pepper, and other savory herbs on the back. It’s complex but not complicated. Warms the soul whilst tantalizing the tongue. A definite buy, especially if you like Irish style whiskies.

Delicious! Floral and sweet on the nose, spicy and sweet vanilla and caramel on the palate. Oak is pronounced from start to finish. More complex than any other Nikka I’ve had. It may have to do with the up to 100 different malt blends and additional aging in Yoichi. Definitely worth a try and a buy.

Sweet, smooth, with Creme brûlée, some dark fruit, and a bit of citrus. The finish was shorter than I wanted but overall, a good bourbon.

A bipolar whiskey that does not know what it wants to be. Similar to scotch with elements of smoke, malt, brine and vanilla. Not much sherry so not sure how long it was finished. The color suggests not long at all. The taste, not at all.

Wood Dust, vanilla at the front. A bit of sweetness in the middle but it fades too quickly and just leaves you disappointed. Maker’s is far better.
