Nose: lightly sweet and peaty Palate: surprisingly light and watery mouthfeel that burns slightly towards the end. Not much here except smoky peat and strong wood notes. Finish: feels like drinking an ashtray. I can see why many dislike this whisky, but I sometimes find myself in the mood for its blatant ash-like smokiness.

Compass Box The Peat Monster (Classic Brown Label)
Blended Malt — Scotland
Reviewed November 5, 2019Nose: more sweet than peaty. Palate: smoky peat dominates; not much else comes through. Finish: surprisingly light and smooth, nothing stands out too much. Beyond the peat (which was not as overwhelming as the name might suggest), I didn't find much to enjoy here.
