Willett Pot Still Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USATastedI have to say this has become my every day bourbon. It’s on the sweeter side and very smooth. No water needed and at 47%abv is right at that sweet spot between flavor and proof. A beautiful sipper neat.
Isaac Bowman Straight Bourbon Finished in Port Barrels
Bourbon — Virginia, USATastedNice, sweet, fruit flavors poke out above the wood. I really like this.
W.L. Weller 12 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USATastedReally? I don’t understand the hype. It tastes rather medicinal to me compared to other bourbons. I just don’t get it and will not go out of my way to find this stuff.
Tyrconnell 15 Year Madeira Cask Finish
Single Malt — IrelandTastedI actually prefer the 15yo over the 16yo offering. Granted my tastes run more towards the fruity end of the spectrum, but I find the 15 is much full flavored though both are eminently drinkable neat.
Tullamore D.E.W. Trilogy 15 Year
Blended — IrelandTastedMy favorite of Tullamore so far, although I have yet to open the 18. Even at 55% ABV it is smooth and has a low alcohol burn and wonderful complex woody flavors. No water or ice needed to make it drinkable. By far the most well rounded of their offerings.
Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum
Spiced Rum — US Virgin IslandsTastedThis is an exceptional mixer. A hint of cherry pokes out and the extra proof is an added benefit. I always enjoy this on a hot summer day and is a wonderful compliment at a summer BBQ.
Teeling Single Pot Still Batch 1
Single Pot Still — IrelandTastedTruly horrendous. Tastes metallic and extremely immature. This was released way too early. Looks like greed and ego won out over taste.
Tullamore D.E.W. Phoenix
Blended — IrelandTastedWow. Very full of spice flavors. I’m not a big fan of mixers, but I took this to a BBQ over the weekend and it made a spectacular Whiskey and Coke. So much flavor that it dominated to Coke mightily. Drank it all day long and enjoyed every bit of it.
Suntory Whisky Toki
Blended — JapanTastedNot bad, a little plain. Makes a pretty decent ‘Irish’ coffee, though.
Jameson Crested Ten
Blended — IrelandTastedWhy oh why is this not available in the US !?!? I have to bring back bottles of this whenever I travel abroad and savor every bit of it, waiting anxiously for my next trip when my reserve runs out. Vastly superior to the stock Jameson at virtually the same price (less cost of plane tickets). I grab a bottle as soon as my plane lands and this is my everyday nightcap until I have to go home again.
