Nose is off — over-yeasty homemade bread that didn’t go as planned. Musty. Flavors on the tongue are less offensive, but there’s an aggressive harshness (as you might expect). Otherwise, you get that uncomplicated buttery sweetness so typical to low-price blends.

Simple but tasty in the DEW fashion. Nothing off-putting. Creamy & sweet, evocative of banana pudding. A little youthful burn, not unpleasant.

For all the nautical imagery and overtones, this is among the driest whiskies I've ever tasted. Complex, exciting, and delicious, though I wish the finish were longer.
