Good brown sugar nose with a flat ethanol palate.

By far the best American whiskey I have put in my face. Waves of spiciness and vanilla tea in the nose. On the tongue it changes dramatically over time. Not unapproachable for new whiskey drinkers. My wife loves it.

Nose of paint thinner or acetone but surprisingly not in an off-putting way. Further draws include dark cherry and caramel. Sip (with a splash of water) start very mild on the tip of the tongue with some mild burn in the center. Vanilla and cherry are strong. I don't get much brown sugar but the sweetness is obvious. Finishing with a mild smoke and French vanilla ice cream.

If I weren't scared about rating something a 5 I would do so for this. It's almost impossible to beat in my opinion. The warmth and smokiness leaves the heart wanting more.

I will pour a normal bottle of Evan Williams down the drain but in some magical way the single barrel is one of my favorites to date. Not sure how this odd contrast happened but it is what it is. If you aren't an Evan Williams fan, do give this bottle a try.

I really enjoy this for a $20 bottle but I actually prefer their straight rye if given the choice.

Another tasty bourbon good for mixing and bringing to a party. Not a first choice for sipping at home .
