Nose is definitely unique. Not necessarily powerful, but maybe closer to a muted bit of baking spices. Toasty nuts right off the bat. A little salty, very well-rounded. A complex and full flavor. Heavy. A bit of molasses and caramel, a thicker set of sugars than something simple. It’s beautiful.Ross Mountain Club

The nose of this one has everything you would want from a bourbon - it’s clean, fragrant, notes of orange, not overpowering from astringency/ethanol, opens up nicely and full of color. It’s warm, reminiscent of a straight-from-the-oven fruitcake; warm pastry. The palette is soft, gently coating the mouth with almost no burn at all. Almost a bit of sawdust, if you were to mix it with warm butter and brown sugar. This has to be the best Wild Turkey I’ve ever had. Could drink this everyday and die a happy man.Ross Mountain Club

Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 14
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 13, 2020 (edited November 5, 2020)Deep amber/red in color. Ethanol heavy on the nose, but this clears quickly to tart berries. Cherry, oak, vanilla on the palette. Really don’t get the 130+ proof, it’s so smooth. Still packs some heat, but not an overwhelming amount.Ross Mountain Club -
Heavy orange on the nose and initial palette, then a flood of smokiness... a bitter smoke? A sharp smoke? I enjoy a peaty scotch but the smoke here was a little unsettling and off-putting at first. Not sure what I think about it, as it seems to mask much of the other flavors. Wanted to like this one way more than I did. Definitely not bad, but maybe just a little too “stale” or flat for my taste. Which I guess is in line for what I’ve heard with some of the longer aged bourbons.Ross Mountain Club

Wild Turkey Diamond Anniversary Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 12, 2020 (edited March 26, 2021)The nose on this one is incredible. Super complex, and unlike anything else I’ve tried before. Baked chicken almost? I can’t place it. Palette is bright and extremely well-rounded. Almost savory and sweet at the same timeRoss Mountain Club -
Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Four Grain Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 11, 2020 (edited November 19, 2022)Very unique, and has notes to it that I can’t quite place. Like this a lot but preferred the Seasoned Wood to this in a blind taste test. Almost fruity on the nose? Muted at first on the palette then opens up to an explosion of flavor.Ross Mountain Club
