Tastes

This tasted like the time I was in Ireland with my sisters and Beth lost a shoe in the cobblestone streets and I bet an Irishman an actual Irishman that I could do an Irish car bomb faster than him and the loser would eat a coaster. Like a paper coaster. And so obviously I lost so when you say this tastes like cheap leather it tastes like paper. Like cheap a paper coaster. That’s what this tastes like. The memory was good. But this isn’t. This is not my favorite because of that. XOXO The Bourbon Wife

I was a little hesitant to pull the trigger on this at the price. I love the OKI Reserve Batch #1 and when I reached for this thought it also was a bourbon. I’m a rye guy, but the price is a little steep. I have to say I’m glad I went ahead and bought this. It is definitely worth it if you like rye whiskey. First taste tonight and I’ll have to revisit, but my initial take is…if you like rye this is a good one to have!

Just tasting this again after tasting the A123. I have to say I like the A123 better. This is definitely less hot at the same proof point (almost). But it is also less flavorful and more woody. Some sweetness but not as complex as A123. The A123 has more sweet notes and coming back taste by taste was able to pick out more variety. This might be smoother, but not as enjoyable IMHO. Delicious nonetheless! Cheers!!!

Smells just like Red Hots candy. Strong cinnamon nose. Big Red gum. Taste is less cinnamonand more rye spice. Its young but ok.

Not unpleasant, but not something to look for. Had to try since i was in Texas. A little funky as i drank it. Not in a good way. But not terrible.

Definitely hot to start, but then a nice sweetness as the sherry notes come through. Really good!

Color: Burnt sienna/mahogany/red-orange (or is it orange-red?) Nose: burnt sienna…no - burnt orange; smoked caramel with smooth jazz playing quietly in the next room Palate: orange rye smoke sugar Finish: short and sweet like she likes it but there’s always another round

Feelin’ hot, hot, hot for the proof point. I like the sweetness of the cognac finish but it is covered up by the heat. This is true on the nose too. Short finish. Bought at Costco so price was right. Wouldn’t run out to buy it again.

Nose: All nuts. Peanuts. Vanilla nuts. It’s nutty. Palate: Hot roasted nuts. Like that bag of hot soggy peanuts I bought on the backroads of North Carolina. I still wonder why people eat that stuff?! But I like the heat. Finish: Short but the heat lingers a bit. A warm nut hug. I don’t remember what I paid. $30? I’d buy it again, but I’m not nuts about it.
