Kavalan Solist Vinho Barrique Single Cask Strength
Single Malt — Taiwan
Reviewed June 11, 2021 (edited April 30, 2022)Ok, that was different! Could really taste the wine cask, and the maple/toasted sugar came through very strong. Finish was a mile long with hints of sweet and toasty, almost root-Beerish flavor. One that would be awesome to have to share with other whiskey lovers, but I would likely not call this a regular sipper!! -
Vanilla and Chocolate with a very smooth flavor. Spicy and dry with leather and herbal on the finish (maybe tobacco and leather). Mid finish with slight spice but not too much. Did I say dry? Baking spices coming through after a bit of air. Very good. Not sure it’s worth hunting down and paying more than $120!119.0 USD per BottleHuntsville

Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Amaranth Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 7, 2020 (edited July 23, 2021)Smooth. Haha. Kidding. Not as spicy as the description. Not a long finish. But just about right! I really liked this and will buy it. -
Maker's Mark Mint Julep Liqueur
Herbal/Spice Liqueurs — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 14, 2020 (edited January 22, 2021)Not a fan. Cough syrup. Maybe if used with a mix, but not a fan on its own. -
Sam Houston 12 Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon (Release No. 2 2019)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 2, 2020TN-2; 12yrs 11 mos. Not as complex as the reviews seem to imply. I can see why another 2 years for the 14 might be the ticket. Fruity on the nose, tastes of vanilla, cherry, and spice. It’s good. But not $100+ good. The detail on the bottle and the idea, however, is cool. Not disappointed I bought it. But it will likely sit on the shelf for a while. -
Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series 2020 SE4 x PR5
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 15, 2020Vanilla and spice. Love the proof and spice over a traditional MM. Drinks smooth for the proof. Peanut brittle on the nose, but only after I read the reviews. But that doesn’t make it true! Good stuff. -
High West Campfire (Discontinued)
Blended American Whiskey — (bottled in Utah), Multiple Countries
Reviewed August 27, 2020I had to try this because the rye and double rye are very tasty. That said, if I wanted scotch in my bourbon, I would blended my own a long time ago. Not good. Nice try being different HW.
