Knob Creek 25th Anniversary Single Barrel Reserve
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 21, 2020 (edited December 2, 2022)You're immediately greeted with aromas of caramel, vanilla, and spicy maple syrup. The rich taste and mouth feel are obvious, with elements of oak, brown sugar, and baking spices. It is warm and spicy on the tongue, but the burn is far from overpowering, especially for the high proof. The oaky finish is light and delicate. This is truly an exceptional example of single barrel, cask strength bourbon. -
There is a sweet astringency on the nose, somewhat like wood varnish, along with dried fruits and caramel. Dry sherry, oak, caramel, and toffee hit the tongue with an herbaceous undertone. This bourbon has an oily mouth feel and a drying finish. This is a very good bourbon with a distinct drying effect. Great if you're looking for something a bit out of the ordinary.
