Lagavulin 12 Year (2008 Special Release)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed July 4, 2015 (edited March 8, 2017)Gamey, meaty, smokey, baconey. Get the idea? The wood influence is very noticeable and deep in complexity. Doesn't dethrone Laphroaig as the King of South Islay, but what does really? Amazing whisky. -
To my taste, there is nothing more divine on a bargain. Immensely complex on the nose and mouth, especially considering the affordable pricing. There's bacon, smoke, brininess and a medicinal touch at the tongue and nose. Adding a few drops of water will do wonders, letting some notes of butter, lime, orange peel and rose petals show through. Purely judging on a QPR standpoint there is simply no better scotch out there.
