Nose: smoky bacon, citrus and sherry. Taste: smoky upfront, vanilla, citrus and mouthwatering sherry sweetness with a faint pepper note. Finish: long pleasant oaky finish. All in all a great dram. I don't smell the salty character told to it but it fills the shoes to be an introduction to islay single malts brilliantly.

Glenfarclas 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed June 30, 2016 (edited November 8, 2019)Nose: dry sherry, alcohol, citrus and dark fruits. Taste: toffee upfront, with sweet, citrus and oak following. Then burned caramel takes over. Finish: Citrusy oaky finish with lots of dark chocolate and oak in the end. This dram is one of the best low to medium prized sherry whiskys. The direct heating of the pot stills brings a lovely caramel note to the whisky. -
Nose: fruity, sweet, vanilla. Taste: very sweet up front, lots of Sherry with vanilla and some oak with a small alcohol burn in the end. For 10 years this dram is full bodied and well matured. Finish: medium long pleasant dry oaky finish. All in all this is a hell of a dram considering the price tag.

Nose: A sweet red wine note and cooked dark fruits with cinnamon. All in all the nose is very reminiscent of a good port wine. Taste: sweet and fruity arrival. Cinnamon, grapes, caramel and toffee with dark brown sugar hanging over everything. A drop of water reduces the sugar and brings the oak up front. Finish: surprising long dry finish with citrus and a pleasant oak. All in all a great bargain for a sipping rum with a distinct fruity wine note. Will buy it again despite being a little bit to much on the sweet side for me.
