Highland Park 12 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed March 16, 2016 (edited October 25, 2016)Great all-rounder as it has Speyside, Highland and Island character to it! Nose: Sherry, sweet and a hint of peat. Taste: more peat up front but still not more than 10 ppm, followed by a sweet and fruity character of the Sherry casks. All of this is balanced with a spiciness from the oak and distinct toffee notes. Finish: medium warm dry finish All in all a great balanced and complex Single Malt for 12 years and a great bargain for beginners and experienced drinkers. -
Brugal Extra Viejo Rum
Aged Rum — Dominican Republic
Reviewed January 3, 2016 (edited April 24, 2018)Aroma: very sweet with some wood spice, vanilla and distinct white peach. I also find cola and a hint of unpleasant glue. Taste: first vanilla and alcohol then wood and some citrus Finish: a medium short dry finish with wood By far not my preferred rum to drink neat but works beautifully with coke as it contrasts the coke's sweetness with woody flavours . -
