I should have ordered the cask strength instead. The price was similar and this seems "watered down". Not too much going on IMO. It's good, but I have some Irish I really like, and this isn't as good as the lot of them. That said, I have had the coveted Red Breast 27, and the flavors of THAT haunt me, it was that good. I had hoped for the slight hint of those flavors in the 12 years but I didn't notice any.

I was wondering what the fruity flavor was. Then I came here and saw this was a Sherry cask finish. Very tasty. Some peat smoke on the back of it, not overpowering though. Slight pepper. And A doesn't hate it either, despite usually disliking scotch! I call that a win!

I very much appreciated this drink. I've been looking for a bottle of it for myself. Only out for the past year, it's been a rough year and stocks seems to have dwindled. Understandable. My own appreciation is only secondary to a more rare attribute this drink brings: the approval of my loving partner. She hates anything peaty, and I find myself torn between drinking the good stuff I love or kissing the one I love. In this rare situation, she finds this an approchable introduction to the world of peated whisky. The Guinness finish adds a milding effect and complexity to the taste. The smell is still pure campfire goodness, but the taste has a sweet candy effect and seemingly no brine. Enough to woo the ladies, while still being manly enough to drink or even wear as an aftershave.

This was a bit more mild than I remember. However it's still great. And the mild is due to my being out to a whiskey bar before this

I should not like this as much as I do. I've always had a weakness for Dewar's, often a well whisky at bars. Except to me Dewars has a very unique flavor I have not sampled in higher end scotches. This version "the ancestor" adds complexity to their unique flavor. Adding almost a dried fruit flavor that I've noticed in some aged pot-stilled Irish whiskey like Red Breast.

Very earthy and almost grassy, it was both punchy and aggressive but also very simple. Just abrasive. There is peat, which I usually like, but not in a good way. It is from India, so something new to me. Made the joke: it seemed too Hindu: not enough suffering went into the whiskey's making! Haha.

Was not too punchy for a heavily peated whisky. Far nicer than Laphroaig 10. I finished the bottle, so this was a free serving!

Any Glen will do! Jokes aside this was super nice. Maybe too nice, smooth and sweet, full of candy and Carmel notes.
