This gin smells like gin....juniper forward with a floral almost perfume odor that lingers. It definitely does not mix like a gin, DO NOT mix with tonic. The malted barley flavor takes over so this is best tasted and enjoyed as a bourbon wannabe. Either neat or in an old fashioned. Not a gin I would drink on a summer day, but more a late fall cocktail when gin may be too heavy. Worth a try but would not buy again.

This gin is a light caramely pink color. It has a strong juniper smell with a hint of fennel. The flavor is distinctly sweet licorice and is very tasty with a splash of tonic. One small drink is all you need, as the licorice taste stays with you long after the drink is done. I would not buy it, but enjoyed experiencing the flavor as a cocktail.

It is now available in the US and is 43% ABV here. It has that distinct Bombay gin smell initially, then blackberry then raspberry. It has a tart taste but then mellows into the juniper gin taste we all know as Bombay. I'm not a fan of flavored gin, I'm a purist at heart, but this is worth a try. We tried the "recipe" on the bottle, absolutely delicious with fresh squeezed lemon, simple syrup over ice. Def a summer drink.

Bombay Original London Dry Gin (40%)
London Dry Gin — England
Reviewed September 21, 2021 (edited June 16, 2024)Bombay Dry has 2 less botanicals the the Sapphire which allows the juniper essence to come forward. It still retains the Sapphire's excellent smoothness and flavor -
I don't know the age on this but pretty sure they don't make it anymore. I tried this while visiting family and they had it on their shelf. It smells and tastes citrus like, not a bad flavor despite aging. No harsh alcohol odor or taste, versatile and would mix easily with any garnish. All in all, pretty good for a plastic bottle, pull out of the cupboard, gin.

I had this gin at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo on Lake Como in Italy. It is not found in the US as it is distilled with tonka beans which are banned here. Tonka beans have a derivative of the blood thinner coumarin, hence the ban. The flavor is unique, very cinnamon like with a touch of almond. I had it in a cocktail at the bar so was unable to smell or taste it neat. I'd love to give it another try and have a bottle with my other collection of "hey, have you tried this?" gins.
