Bombay Original London Dry Gin (40%)
London Dry Gin
Bombay // England
Bombay Original London Dry Gin is the precursor to its more famous counterpart, Bombay Sapphire. First released in 1959, it is based on an original 1761 recipe. Bombay Sapphire is made with ten botanicals, this gin is made with eight botanicals: juniper berries, coriander seeds, licorice root, almonds, lemon peel, cassia bark, orris root and angelica root. These botanicals are vapor-infused with the base spirit before being bottled.
London Dry GinNeutral spirit flavored with juniper and other botanicals. In the US, the minimum ABV is 40%; In the EU, it is 37.5%. Originally, only made in London, this can be made anywhere. No artificial flavors or colors can be added. Only water, neutral grain spirit, and sugar (no more than 0.1g/l) can be added.
"The aroma is distinctly earthy and herbal, almost to the degree a freshly-potted plant. Return trips to the glass continue to highlight these aromas. The flavors of the botanicals make their appearances all taking their turns forming a solid base. The gin isn't too oily and shows a dry finish. A classic all-around gin and on the savory side of things. Perhaps using in a Gibson Martini or a Negroni could put it to good use."
