Remarkable flavors explode out of the bottle with this one. A bright, spicy, warm, and rich paquet of traditional bourbon essences express the joy of a richly aged bourbon. This is so good, that a single sip is enough to appreciate the time and skill that went into this lovely spirit. A generous serving of terroir is apparent, with summer heat, aging wood and venerable spirit all reflecting the place of origin. You can never go wrong with Heaven Hill offerings, but this one goes the extra mile with intense, yet well balanced flavors. Without getting into all of the usual flavor notes, let’s just say that this release is a treasure.

Light body, easy going and smooth. A solid entry level bourbon. Some corn flavor is apparent, with mild oak and light char. There is a bit of cinnamon on the palate at the finish. Try this one with cola, ginger ale or simply as a shot.

Quite sweet and chewy with a lot of toffee, caramel and brown sugar notes. Rum cask is quite apparent, with the bourbon transformed into a entirely new beast. A fairly heavy body and round mouthfeel, with a gradual fade. The final note is of caramel. We like it in classic cocktails such as a Manhattan, Old Fashioned or Mint Julep where the inherent sweetness works well with sweet adjuncts.

An interesting new blend that is very malty, bready and sweet. Very drinkable and approachable, with a decent dose of Shiraz hitting the front of the palate. Rather than serving this on the rocks, this excels as a straight whiskey; warm, toasty and light, yet with a depth of body. At the end of the day, it is the wine that lingers on the tongue. A fun and friendly spirit that is another welcome addition to the Starward portfolio.

Quite smooth, almost creamy in its delivery. Rich malt entry along with a pop of sherry adds a touch of solera funk to the overall profile. Medium bodied with heavy leanings toward vanilla and caramel. The slightly higher proof adds a bit of spice to the mix, creating an autumnal character.
