Honey, banana and apples beautifully balanced with a mild but meaty peat on the nose. Sweet ginger arrival with a long peppery finish.

Tasting the 2010 version. This is an enjoyable oddball. A funky sweet and sour nose of apricots and almonds, a pleasant minty arrival with a long ginger cake and treacle finish. A unique whisky that dares to be different.

Sour fruit, sulphur and hay on the nose. A thick mouthfeel of liquorice, sweet cream and rhubarb with a dry mellow spice finish. A pleasantly complex dram.

Honey and pineapple nose. Bananas and cream follow with a hint of tobacco and liquorice. A short spicy and dry kick on the finish that trails into sweetness.

Christmas cake, toffee and green apples on a funky malt nose. A vanilla and celery arrival. More shallow to the taste than the older whiskeys in the Glenfarclas line but the nose is superb.

A big nose of caramel, stewed prunes and flour. A soft and welcoming sweet tea and butter arrival and a brown sugar finish. A great value, eminently approachable dram that’s only fault is a relative lack of complexity.

A lively nose - strawberries and cream with freshly cut grass. Peanuts. A sweet chocolate raisin arrival. Lacks refinement but an enjoyable dram nonetheless. A great value sherry bomb.

Needs time in the glass to open up. When it does you’ll be rewarded with a big bold arrival of stewed fruit, apple pie and almonds. Bananas, apple, raisins and white pepper wood spice on the finish. Too balanced to deserve the ‘sherry monster’ tag - there’s nothing monstrous about this beautiful dram.

Nicely balanced but slightly flat compared to the best Speysides of a similar age. Inoffensive but boring.

A nose of honey, tea and wet grass. Wildflowers and oats. The arrival is salty and fruity with crystallised ginger, and grapefruit and liquorice appear in the development along with dark fruits. The finish is long, dry and spicy. A decent dram, nicely presented at 48% which is the perfect strength to let this spirit shine.
