This is the most affordable HP whisky in my neck of the woods by far, and perhaps as they designed it they missed some of the flavours that make HP a signature whisky. It’s nice, smooth, and you don’t notice how fast it goes down. Might be the HP dram you can discern heather the most, but without distinction of the typical HP bottles with peat and smoke. Great bang for buck.

Highland Park 12 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed December 12, 2020 (edited January 23, 2021)Surprisingly unpeated and not smokey when compared to other HP drams. Nice light and sweet whisky, quite smooth, the honey and vanilla really come through in the 12yo. -
Lohin McKinnon Tequila Barrel Finished Single Malt Whisky
Canadian — British Columbia, Canada
Reviewed December 10, 2020 (edited July 29, 2022)Might be the first whisky I’ve tasted finished in tequila barrels, very unique, a subtle yet distinct as well flavourful addition to the taste. Like adding a string section to the band, it adds something really good, complex, and special. -
Lohin McKinnon Wine Barrel Finished Single Malt
Single Malt — British Columbia, Canada
Reviewed December 10, 2020I’ve had four of L&M’s whiskies and loved them all. The wine barrel finish adds a richness and smoothness I was not expecting to the palate. I wish L&M were distributed more widely but my wallet and liver do not. -
Lohin McKinnon Peated Single Malt
Single Malt — British Columbia, Canada
Reviewed December 10, 2020 (edited December 30, 2020)A very well done peated whisky from a corner of the world you would not expect peated whisky. The flavours come in waves and I thoroughly enjoyed each sip of delightful discovery. -
Lohin McKinnon Single Malt
Canadian — British Columbia, Canada
Reviewed December 10, 2020 (edited April 8, 2022)A very solid dram. On the sweet side, no smoke or pepper bite, really nice summer sipper when you’re watching the sun set into the ocean.
