Nose-Strawberry and cherry candy Palate-berries, a light amount of rye spice, sweet oak Finish-medium. Impressive for 90 proof. Subtle, but lovely.

Nose - Butterscotch, pastry, baking spuce Palate - butterscotch, dark chocolate, creamy, tannic structure, root beer Finish - medium/short Surprisingly complex and rewarding. This has finished first or second in blinds for me.

The nose is yellow cake and sweet tobacco. The palate follows suit and is viscous. The finish is long with light spice and sweet oak. This has won a few blinds for me. The tasting room host at River Roots said it was sourced from Heaven Hill.

The nose is subtle. But, there is a lovely orange blossom note. The palate is soft, but lovely with banana, pear, and simple syrup. The sweetness persists into finish where light oak and subtle spice mingle with vanilla cake. This is not a flavor monster. But, it is pleasing in every way.

This drinks under the proof point in a good way. It has enough complexity to savor, but it remains approachable and crushable. It tend toward the sweet notes and the oak is underlying presence. The finish is a good, not great length, but exceedingly pleasant.

A bourbon drinker’s rye. A beautiful combination of chocolate, toffee, and baking spice. This is my favorite “shelfer” whiskey.

The coffee note others pull out of this is dead on. A lovely balance of chocolate, coffee, and subtle savory flavors that you expect from a rye and a double oaked whiskey.

This is a bold double oaked bourbon. The nose is campfire and chocolate. The proof is present, but not a huge driver of flavor. The mouthfeel is oily. Oak, dark chocolate, toffee, coffee, and a spicy kick.
