Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year Bourbon (107 Proof)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 16, 2020 (edited December 11, 2020)Heavy fruit on nose. Maple and vanilla on palate. Agree with comment on red hots. Taste the proof. Nice linger. More vanilla and caramel. Sips get better and smoother. Definitely a solid bourbon. -
Blanton's Straight From the Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 16, 2020 (edited December 6, 2020)I got banana on the nose. A little mix of vanilla. No ethanol smell. First sip packs a punch for sure. It was an eruption of flavor profiles. Cherry comes in. Flavors are compounded with the inhale. As sips progress not an overwhelming burn. I just had a taster. Wish I had a bottle -
Very Old Barton 86 Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 24, 2020 (edited February 15, 2022)Caramel. Oak. Not bad if used as mixing bourbon. Not the best I’ve had straight. But for the price it’s a very good value -
Old Ezra 7 Year Barrel Strength Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 15, 2020 (edited March 15, 2021)I like it. Solid bourbon. Vanilla, caramel, oak to the nose. Tasted some banana peel on the back end. All in all solid bourbon. Ice cube opens it up a bit. Not overpowering or harsh. Not overly smooth either. Good balance. -
Henry McKenna 10 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 10, 2020 (edited July 17, 2020)Definitely taste the vanilla and toffee. It’s good at first, a little sweet, then the 100 proof kicks in. Definitely get the menthol, but for me it was more like lysterine. Not my favorite neat. Added an ice cube and was much better. For me, could use some orange to help out. Would be better used in an old fashioned.
