Kraken Black Spiced Rum Original
Spiced Rum — Trinidad & Tobago
Reviewed April 4, 2020 (edited May 12, 2020)Pretty decent beginners rum. Has a tasty splash of candied vanilla and caramel, but to the point of losing subtlety and maturity. Not really an every day kind of rum as it lends itself to getting sickening when overdone, but can be good for an unpretentious sip with newbie friends. Or a summer sipper/mixer. Avoid the white rum ghost edition which is worse in every way (lower abv, lacking the vanilla/caramel fullness, more harsh, lacking interesting flavor and therefore becomes too sweet, only ok for mixing) -
Hudson Baby Bourbon (DISCONTINUED)
Bourbon — New York, USA
Reviewed April 4, 2020 (edited October 10, 2020)Strange bird. Different times seem to lend different experiences. In general though the richness/complexity is actually pretty decent with the smokey barrel aspects pairing with the corn/grain sweetness. The main weakness for me was that it can get overshadowed at times by the alcoholic harshness. For the price I would expect it to be a bit more smooth than this. Still, it is enjoyable, and good if you are in the mood for a bit of a bite. -
El Jimador Reposado Tequila
Tequila Reposado — Tequila Valley, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed April 4, 2020Bang-for-the-buck tequila champ. Overall fairly smooth and rich flavor. Has a hint of oak and smoke (aka it's a reposado) but retains that tequila sweetness.
