Not bad for a reasonably price scotch 

This is really Smokey and slightly peaty and to be honest I don’t enjoy drinking it as it is. I will say though this is similar to Shieldaig “finest old” which is also too Smokey for me to drink as is. I will use this as I do Shieldaig which is to mix it with some other rather undesirable whiskey that seems to have very little balance. I have found making my own blended whiskey to be very satisfying. I just have a weakness for buying whiskeys that I’ve never heard of or had before regardless of price or of previous known reviews. Blending whiskeys together allows me to eventually drink all of my stock.

I am rating this as one of my favorites generally Irish whiskeys are not my favorite but for this one I’m making an exception.

At first I thought by the nose I would not like this but I was wrong. It is delightful but it does require some dilution to open it.

Not an overpowering amount of peat just enough to let you know it’s there I am enjoying this especially the 46%

I don’t seem to get this. Too sweet for me then an aftertaste that is odd and unforgiving to my pallet. I’m afraid this is going to sit in a corner of my collection until I run out of most everything else

Good start and interesting finish just the right tartness to tax your saliva glands. Nice and fruity without being annoying sweet.

I’m sorry to say this just doesn’t do it for me there are too many things going on here. I understand the smoke and the apricots and the apple finish but it’s just too much on its own no balance I might try mixing this with something else to soften these hard edges. Now I just got to figure out what else to try mixing it with.

Very Peaty and too much smoke for my taste fragrance is nothing I’ve ever smelled before seems briny. I’m keeping it in my collection only to give it to someone that wants something that is really peaty and really smoky
