Springbank 10 Year
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed August 8, 2014 (edited August 12, 2017)Really well balanced 'All-Arounder'. Similar to a lot of Highland Parks it's got a little bit of everything going on. A bit on the expensive side for a 10 year old - but all Campbelltown Malts tend to be on the pricey side. I think this is a great whisky for new malt drinkers who are looking for something a little more interesting and challenging to the nose and palate. -
Great Island Malt. One of the standards. I've found that the 10 year old has dropped off slightly from some of the 10 year olds from a few years ago - but it's still great. Distiller's Edition and Storm from Talisker are good options as well. I've never come across an older Talisker that I didn't love as well.

Steady and reliable. Great standard Islay Malt at a good price. If you want something with smoke in the traditional Islay style this is a great option. If you're getting started on the smoky whiskies and are interested in trying something from Laphroaig with a slightly different flavor profile but still a nice smokey palate, the Triple Wood is really solid. I almost prefer the 10 year old to some of their older expressions.
