TONS of butterscotch on the nose. Man, I could smell this thing all day. So rich and full. Butterscotch continues into the palate, which is where the rye also comes to play. Finish is a little thin, but it’s got a pleasant spice and is nice and aromatic. I rated it the same, but I like this one a bit more than the 10-year bourbon.

Michter's 10 Year Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 12, 2021 (edited April 13, 2021)Cherry and a hint of butterscotch on the nose, along with some spice and smoke. The palate is pleasantly balanced, not too sweet and not too hot. Finish isn’t too long, but it’s sweet and satisfying. -
Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 15
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 5, 2021 (edited January 13, 2021)Nose is pretty alcohol forward, but the booze doesn’t overpower the cherry and roasted apple notes. Those apple notes persist into the palate, bolstered by rich oaky-ness. Nice, long spicy finish. -
Russell's Reserve 2002
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 29, 2020 (edited November 19, 2022)The oak on the nose hits you like a ton of bricks. There’s brown sugar and lemon, too, but much more subtle. The palate is thick and full of wintery flavors. It’s sweet, but not overbearing, with plenty of woody, slightly smokey notes to balance it out. Finish is long and spicy. An excellent bourbon and a must-try for any Wild Turkey fan. -
1792 Aged Twelve Years
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 13, 2020 (edited December 14, 2020)You get this one’s extra age right away on the nose. The oak is very prominent, but then sweeter notes of strawberry and banana finish it off. Very pleasant. The palate is rich and creamy, but not as sweet as other 1792 expressions. Very oaky, as you’d expect from the age. I wish the finish was longer, but that’s the only big problem I have with it. -
Nose smells HEAVILY of banana bread. So much so that I don’t get much else on it. More banana bread and subtler notes of strawberry and vanilla on the palate. Finish is short, rounding out the sweetness with a touch of spice. If you want something unique and have a sweet tooth, this may be it for you.

Calumet Farm 14 Year Single Rack Black Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed November 28, 2020 (edited January 25, 2021)A lot of cherries on the nose, with subtler notes of leather and oak as well. Palate is also sweet, with more cherries, banana and some creamier notes coming through. Medium finish with a slight smokiness and notes of black corn. The price is rather steep, but if you can grab it for a lower price or find a glass at a bar, it’s an excellent whiskey. -
Mellow Corn Bottled in Bond Whiskey
Corn — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 23, 2020 (edited May 2, 2021)This may be obvious, but the nose is mostly corn. Holy cow, there’s so much corn. Whadaya know, more corn on the palate. There’s also some subtle vanilla and brown sugar notes too. Palate is spicier than I expected, but not much going on there in the end. Is this gonna win any awards? No. But it’s not bad. If you like corn. -
Bardstown Bourbon Co. Discovery Series #3
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed November 23, 2020 (edited February 23, 2021)Apples and cloves on the nose. A hint of orange, too. Not a lot of ethanol for a 110 proof, which is a good thing. Palate is smooth, sweet and complex, with notes of mint, vanilla, and cherries, giving way to leather and oak on the finish. The finish becomes spicier as it lingers, but never becomes too hot.
