Knob Creek Small Batch Bourbon (NAS)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 26, 2020 (edited August 23, 2020)Second time tasting thing bourbon after few months in between tasting. First time was not found of it like was a 6.5 to me but this time I actually enjoyed it very much. Nose: Spicy and sweet. Toasty oak and a touch of rye with caramel sweetness. Palate: Full and complex love it! Notes of nut oil, a touch of spice and dark chocolate, a little spice and charred oak. Finish: Long with a touch of dryness, nut oils and vanilla spice. Overall: would not rate this whiskey less than a 8 maybe 8.2. For the buck gives you the bang, rich bourbon in flavor without going broke lol that's your bottle. It can compete with woodford reserve despite being a somewhat cheaper pour so I do not regret buying it and will purchase another bottle once this one is done, to keep it in my boose cabinet as it does deserve a place there.50.0 CAD per BottleSAQ Sélection -
I am a whiskey mainly bourbon drinker, but my friend highly suggested that I try some rums because apparently they are good and way cheaper than the whiskey we drink. So tried Plantation 5 Year Old Barbados Rum, it actually was not bad and somewhat pleasant so figured I give Xaymaca Special Dry a try... worst pour I ever had... never in my life have I trown away boose but this I couldn't finish a drink.. the nose ..like dirty socks, wet dirt and rotting fruits.. palate ..wierd unpleasant mainly because of the nose so you have this idea already.. finish is terrible with all those "funky" flavors and scents mixes w light heat.. I never add juice or soda to my alcohol only on the side if needed but this Xaymaca Special Dry garbage should only be drank mixed with a tone of powerful soda like dr pepper maybe? Something to cover the smell and taste but I am not going to buy another bottle to find out. Worst experience ever.37.0 CAD per BottleSAQ Sélection

Okay so I was really looking forward to tasting this as we have it rarely here in Montreal. Wow. For the price range it's by far the best KY bourbon I've tried and I mean in this price range so yes Blanton or weller 12 is better you get the picture? Great let's keep going so after few months waiting I've got it. Nose: Oak, caramel Palate: Brown sugar, spice, toffee, oak, leather Mouth feel: creamy Finish: medium Overall: A great pour for the money, is there better sure but you have to pay extra 40+ bucks sometimes more depending where you are located. Nose: Rye spice first, fresh baked bread with a caramel and vanilla. Palate: Oily mouthfeel. Sweetness comes in with well balanced oak. Spice and slight bitterness forefront, masking a subtle sweetness that balances this drink out. Finish: Long and spicy. Residual flavors lingering on the soft palate.Lingering oak. Overall: Truly an amazing rye whiskey, one of my favorite. I like everything about it from the price tag to the nose and its finish. A solid 9. It's a bottle that I always keep in my bar.39.0 CAD per BottleSAQ

Nose: Warm and sweet with buttered granary toast, mixed spices and a distinct morello cherry character. Cooked fruit and a defined bakery note. Palate: Quite full and sweet. Freshly baked sweet buns, a stewed fruits. There are hints of oak but very little. Finish: Long and slightly dry with toasty spices. Overall: It's a decent whiskey defenetly not makers 46 as a wheated whiskey go but decent enough to buy again when the mood strikes but not a bottle that you go search for around the city. 7 on 10 for me personally.65.5 CAD per BottleSAQ Sélection

Old Ezra 7 Year Barrel Strength Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 3, 2020 (edited July 15, 2020)Nose - (neat) sweet caramel, oaky cinnamon, light cherry, oaky vanilla (w/ water) reduced fruity sweetness, more oaky vanilla caramel. Taste - (neat) mellow, kind of drying cinnamon caramel, light cherry, drying oaky vanilla caramel (w/ water) reduced heat, more dry, less cherry & more oaky cinnamon caramel, fruity sweet reappears at the very end. Finish - (neat) a Whoohaa like a spartan at first then lingering heat/tingle, sweet cherry caramel, cinnamon red hot heat (w/ water) Little to no burn, lingering fruity/cherry lingers, vanilla caramels remain in background. Score - 8 Final Thoughts - I like it, it surprised me quite a bit as it wasn't quite as hot as the proof would make you think, but w a whoah bite that is quite pleasant and not overwhelming.65.0 CAD per BottleSAQ -
Amazing, became one of my favorites after the first pour. I usually add a drop or two of water.. but not for this one .. this is perfect just the way it is.. the only thing that worries me is that its single barrel so chances are the next bottle wont taste the same but defenetly going to buy again and see ! Just was stunned by how good it is ..went with the presumption of it being bad because I just hated the normal jack 7 even w coke its terrible but this baby was unbelievable! Nose: Good body with plenty of toasty oak, there are notes of corn and lovely cereal sweetness, there is a good smoke note, a little spice and toffee. Palate: Full and mouth-filling. There are notes of cereal sweetness, the rye is in evidence with a touch of cigar box and nut oils, a little spice and an aniseed character. Finish: Good length with a hint of citrus and plenty of cereal sweetness. One of the finest I've tried in my top 3 American whiskey.57.0 CAD per BottleMontreal

Very spicy, I was hoping for something smoother somewhat reminds me of the knob creek 100 proof, it's not bad but it's not great. Can definitely get better for the price tag. It does become better with a bit of water but still not a bottle I'd be searching and driving for miles. I was curious so I got it, regret ? No, as it still drinkable neat, the only way i drink whiskey is w a little drop or two of water and it works with this one.50.5 CAD per BottleSAQ Sélection
