Better than I expected for a 5 year old Islay. Not complex, but could work with a cigar.

There is a sweet fruity aroma that I quite like. I nosed this dram longer than most. The taste was crisp and grassy. I was surprised to like it more than it’s older sibling at 12 years. I plan to purchase a bottle.

I think it is exceptional for the default single-malt of a commercial airline. I do prefer the 10 year to the 12 and I feel very weird admitting that.

Good but not great

I was expecting “meh” and that’s exactly what I got.

Smells amazing. Wood spice and peaty goodness. The finish was complex with smoke and the ocean. Really surprising.

I like the smell of the Select. It smells like Laphroaig 10 but sweeter. I do get less peat on the nose as well. The taste is good, but not as good as it's non-select sibling. The finish is where the original pulls away from this expression. While good, in my opinion, this is no replacement for my Laphroaig 10.
