Port Charlotte 10 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed May 10, 2022 (edited January 20, 2023)Near perfect whiskey. Nose is all chocolate, baking spice, and campfire smoke. On the tongue it has a looooong evolution. The first flavor is similar to a classic Speyside sweetness with a hint of nuts and honey. Then comes the smoke. It’s mighty but plays a supporting role here. The finish is dry and oaky with a Malbec spice and a touch of mocha. All in all a really fantastic whiskey - especially for the price. While its still my second favorite Islay - after Lagavulin 16 - it comes at a way more accessible to price point and is much more often in stock. Great work by the folks at Bruicladdich. -
