Wow, amazing blend of sherry-cask rice whiskeys spanning nearly three decades. Creamy butterscotch body. Might be a little too sweet for some, but I found it a delicious nightcap.

Tasted side-by-side with the Hakushu 12, which is really the best way to appreciate the refinement of the 18. Comparatively, much silkier with vanilla oak or something floral. Nice.

Nice and peaty, but had that Japanese elegance in lilting fruit notes. The latter are a bit too demure though.

Shabu favorite if only because it’s comparatively cheap while still being palatable if consumed quickly. If you’re getting rounds, you’re getting Akashi, but it’s honestly not that bad. Mild body with a nice peaty kick, perfect for chasing with a real whiskey.

Pretty smell with a spicy, peaty kick, but empty body.

Surprisingly syrupy with some sweet, flowery notes.

Oh to have tasted the tears of angels. Too bad I accidentally shot the pour, oops. It was pretty though and I look forward to a better future sip...
