Wild Turkey Master's Keep Cornerstone Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 15, 2020 (edited July 11, 2020)N - green apple, bitter orange, vanilla and all spice P - good mouthfeel, slightly oily to slightly drying as it goes down, more apple, Orange, baking spice F - moderate finish, nice toasted spice, touch of oak. Only thing keeping overall score from being higher was the finish is on the shorter side given what I would expect from a high end Rye, and one with this proof. -
Woodford Reserve Double Oaked
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 23, 2020 (edited March 14, 2020)N - brown butter, ripe bananas, vanilla P - buttery and velvety smooth mouthfeel, bananas, F - short to moderate lasting with light oak and spice; vanilla creme brûlée like finish. Solid dram. Really smooth, noticeably different than your standard Woodford, with more oak and tons of vanilla to boot. -
N - mint forward, eucalyptus and light baking spice P - good mouthfeel, on the thinner side vs oily given the proof. Light spice and oak. F - short to moderate. Nice spice with very light nutty taste, leading quickly to more mint. Overall solid, can’t say it’s my favorite EHT, but an easy rye to sip neat.

Nose - straight forward with nice notes of caramel, vanilla and maybe a touch of green apple. Not abrasive given the fairly high proof. Palette - full, good mouthfeel. More caramel, apple and banana, and light oak. Good balance overall given the ABV. Finish - light oak to moderate amount of spice. Finish is moderately long, transitioning to a touch of bitterness on the backend.

Great initial nose, with light juniper and flower tones coming thorough. After giving the nose some time, it did produce a slightly ‘off-tone’ that I can only describe as medicinal. A nice balance on the palette and finish, again light juniper that is evenly matched with elderflower and lemon zest. Most interestingly about this gin is the finish, with a unique spice note that lingers and gives the overall experience some complexity not often found in a gin.
