1792 Full Proof Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 10, 2020 (edited February 12, 2020)Scent: very strong alcohol smell to it. Although you get past that and instantly smell honey and vanilla. Taste: a lot of flavor going on at once. Get past the initial burn and I taste honey and oats with a little bit of lemon spritz at the end. -
Woodford Reserve Straight Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 10, 2020 (edited February 11, 2020)Nose: immediately takes me into a barn. I smell hay with some dirt and gravel. I eventually get some butter notes with it, likes waffle with butter and syrup. Taste: I can taste a very sweet spice. It tastes almost fruity with warming spices. It’s so easy to drink, especially for a rye whiskey. -
Kentucky Owl Confiscated Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 10, 2020 (edited April 10, 2020)Nose: I get a lot of banana pudding, specifically the vanilla wafers. It smells very smooth and not too strong. Reminds me of an island breeze, when I’m putting on sunblock. Taste: I mean wow...so many different things going on here. I oddly taste cucumber water at first, but that very quickly turns into vanilla and oak. But that very quickly turns into warming spices as it runs down the throat. Taste: -
Hancock's President's Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 10, 2020 (edited March 28, 2020)Nose: smells very similar to Weller special Reserve. Don’t get much spice on the nose, more Carmel flavors with some light fruit in there. Reminds me of a Carmel Apple at the fair. Taste: Good stuff. Very smooth, easy to drink. Tastes like it has more burn then the actual proof. I get a lot more of the tobacco flavors come through as it sits on the tongue. -
Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 1
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 3, 2020 (edited January 5, 2020)Nose: I got a lot of sweeter notes, like sugar cookies along with fresh fruits. I also got some warm along spices like cinnamon or nutmeg. Taste: I mean where do I start. Immediately I am hit with snickerdoodle cookies, where the brown sugar and cinnamon come through but that quickly transitions into a darker sweetness like maple syrup, all while having that warm spice to it. For a bourbon with this high of proof, I thought it was so smooth. Eventually add a little bit of water to it and it brings out so many more tastes. LOVE this stuff. -
Willett Pot Still Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 7, 2019 (edited November 11, 2019)Smell: I can smell dark oak, almost like the forest after it rains. I can smell some citrus notes come through but get a strong sense of oak. Taste: At first, I get some minor notes of Carmel and Molasses. But that quickly transitions into oak. I get some vanilla that come with the oaky wood. It is slightly spicy/smokey mixed with some warm baking spices. Beautiful bourbon with a beautiful bottle. -
Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye 13 Year
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 24, 2019 (edited November 11, 2019)Nose: just looking at it was amazing. It had a beautiful darker color to it. It looked and even smelled like honey. It didn’t smell as spicy as I would have imagined for rye whiskey. I could smell dark fruits with a little bit of vanilla with the oak. Taste: I mean my gosh. So smooth, especially for rye whiskey. I got some spice at first, but it was more baking spices, like cinnamon. But that quickly turned into a sweet, but dark cherry flavor, along with some other darker fruits, like plums. This was absolutely mind blowing. Again, well done van winkle, you never fail to amaze me. -
Pappy Van Winkle 15 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 15, 2019 (edited October 29, 2019)Nose: sweet, rich flavors like vanilla and banana. It smelled buttery and smooth. Got hints of sweet fruits, like ripe cherries. Taste: Good gosh. Just as smooth as it smelled. Tastes of creamy, salty butter, with a hint of warm baking spices. I could taste the oak and with that, the vanilla came through. Just like I smelled, I could taste some really sweet/fresh fruits while it sits on the tongue. Nothing too overpowering, it was a perfect blend of sweetness with some notes of baking spice. So freaking good. Well done, Julian Van Winkle, well done. -
Nose: I can smell the oak initially but it quickly leads into the vanilla sweetness of the wood. With a quick sniff, I smell cookie dough with some cinnamon. Similar to a snicker doodle. I smell the strength of tobacco and some caramel. Taste: at first, salted caramel, but can still taste some of those tobacco flavors that are strong, but not strong enough to burn. Definitely a journey. I can taste the slight spice of cinnamon, but very sweet and warm. Makes me think of biting into a warm cookie on a cold day. GREAT BOURBON.

Caribou Crossing Single Barrel Canadian Whisky
Canadian — Canada
Reviewed June 27, 2019 (edited July 27, 2019)Nose: initially could smell a lot of oaky flavors with some Smokey flavors thrown in. Let it sit for about 10 minutes and came to smell some dark fruits like plum and dark cherry. Taste: tastes totally different then what I was expecting from the smell. I tasted hints of chocolate with a lot of sweet fruits like orange and even maraschino cherries. A little hesitant to buy it, because I didn’t know much about Canadian whisky. However I really enjoyed it. Easy to sip, with a lot of unique flavors.
