Tastes

A solid, well-rounded whiskey that is both nicely spiced and wonderfully sweet; this one grows on you fast. (Note: Makes for a great Manhattan, especially when mixed with Cocchi vermouth. Excellent in a Sazerac as well.)

Was able to try a small sample of this at The Parlor in Phoenix; strong, given it is cask strength, but every bit as good as its lower proof counterpart.

One of the most unique whiskeys I've had the pleasure of drinking. Smoky and rich, like they bottled the essence of barbecued brisket, with all the sweetness you'd expect of a good malt whiskey. This is far from an everyday sipper for me, but it is great to drink on occasion and goes extremely well in a Sazerac. ($50)

Enjoyed at Plan Check (DTLA) as an Old Fashioned, with blood orange bitters added for good measure. Sweet, given its flavored nature, but a good choice for ready-made or otherwise low maintenance cocktails.
