Hochstadter's Vatted Straight Rye Whiskey
Rye
R.J. Cooper & Son // Multiple Countries
Cooper Spirits has created a unique North American whiskey in the tradition of Scottish blending known as vatting, where a selection of, in this case, rye whiskeys have been chosen from different distilleries in Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Alberta, Canada to marry together in vats to create one expression.
The selected whiskeys are aged between 4 - 15 years and once they get to know each other, bottled at 100 proof.

RyeUnlike bourbon, rye whiskey can be made anywhere in the world. But if made in the US, the mash bill recipe must be at least 51% rye and it must be aged in new, charred oak barrels with no age requirement. Elsewhere, the rye whiskey will be made keeping the country of origin's rules regarding the recipe and minimum aging.

Tasting Notes
"It's challenging not to sip this rye and say the word "boom." It's got a silky texture, yet it has a spiciness (intense cinnamon like red hot candies, clove, black pepper, allspice, nutmeg) that wants to wake the palate up. A molasses sweetness and tart fruit complexity adds further intrigue. It was intended as a cocktail rye, but there is no reason it shouldn't be enjoyed neat with a big ice cube. "
