Belle Meade Sour Mash Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Tennessee), USA
Reviewed January 25, 2023 (edited May 5, 2024)Nose: maple syrup, brown sugar, caramel, candied orange peel, lightly floral. Palate: major rye spice with vanilla, some maple, oaky, almond, walnut. Finish" hot with lots of nutty astringency, some citrus. A bit of red fruit (cherry, plum), warming burn. Not harsh Mouth feel: smooth and light. -
Nose: possibly more bananas than No. 7. Nutty, caramel, toasted macadamia nut. Some crystalizef maple. Palate: Banana, peppery (maybe moreso than black label, even if it's smoother), distinctly charred oak. Overripe cherry (that I wouldn't have detected if not for another review), butterscotch, and vanilla. Finish: the flavour last longer and with more depth, it's a bit smoother, and carried the nuttiness. Mouthfeel: similarly oily, less burn but a more lingering heat. Overall: can't say I necessarily prefer it. It's clearly been worked a bit harder and is smoother, but it also lacks the rough around the edges character you want from Jack.Mr Whiskers Wines & Liquors

Despite being the most basic spirit on the market, it is a seriously enjoyable drink at this price point. The nose has overripe banana, crystalized maple sugar, corn. Thr banana is almost overwhelmingly dominant, blending with vanilla. Caramel cream. On the palate, the banana milkshake persists, with vanilla ice cream, major peppercorn, oak, macadamia nuts, very subtle dry almond. The finish is very oaky, toasted grain and nuts, nutty, and has a real cereal character. While light and smooth, it is a bit thin and leaves you wanting a bit more lingering flavour. The mouthfeel is a bit oily, surprisingly smooth with relatively little burn.Mr Whiskers Wines & Liquors

George Dickel Barrel Select
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed December 26, 2022 (edited March 12, 2024)Amazingly smooth at 43%. Opens with sweet notes of maple and apple, some caramel, and mellow charcoal. The nose is caramel and oak. On the palate, it's caramel, maple, charcoal, charred oak, and peppercorn. The mouth feel is medium light with some heat that lingers but never overwhelms or dominates. The finish is light and smooth leaving oak and a residual maple sugar sweetness. Absolutely punching above it's price point in my experience on TN whiskey.44.99 USD per Bottle
