Heaven's Door Highway 61 Blend
Blended American Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed July 14, 2020 (edited March 19, 2021)Nose: nice little cinnamon and apple spicy nose, background of oak / malted chocolate. Sweet and simple. Palate: hard to distinguish. Apple skins, maybe? After a water back maybe a hint of those little caramel cream candies if you held a gun to my head. Smooth for sure but really nothing epic. Short to moderate length finish. Really reaching but I have no idea what the goal was here. Can find much better for less! Sweet bottle! Ha. -
Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 18, 2020 (edited October 4, 2020)🌹🌹🌹🌹 single Barrel, 100 proof. Neat, but I liked it better with a splash / small cube 🧊 Nose 👃🏽: light, simple, caramel and some tart citrus honey or classic apricot. , low spice which isn’t typical for me with Four Roses usually. After a few sips can nose slight sweet tobacco. Palate - neat gets oak and peat very forward. Much more spicy than the nose. Very long, moderately smoky finish (compared to bourbons...). Improved significantly with splash of water... now smooth, sweet ripe black cherry! Not super complex. Definitely sitting more citrus related than wheaty, chocolate oaky. Pretty hyped up in my opinion, but still enjoyable especially when you open it up with some agua. All in all: 3.5/5 🌹🌹🌹🥀 Music: Bron-yr-aur by Led Zeppelin radio #fourRoses #FourRosesSingleBarrel -
Exceeded expectations with this Woodford Rye guy pickup. Neat Nose: sweet spicy cherries at the rim. Time gets you the vanilla oaky chocolate. Think Christmas pine background with cherry ambrosia, if we are letting the mind travel a bit. It’s a great nose! Palate: Nice change up! Tart, apricot dried or unripe fruit upfront. Young, so not the most smooth compared to something with an older age statement. Also not getting a ton of chocolate, but overall a pretty good rye for a rainy day. 3.75/5 🌕🌕🌕🌔 @ $50 USD Music: Blues mix50.0 USD per Bottle

Macallan Classic Cut (2017 Release)
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed June 15, 2020 (edited August 27, 2020)Neat Nose: really nice wheat and oak and vanilla and chocolate apples. Over time Palate: smooth, burnt marshmallows sometimes, Granny Smith apples at others. Nice mellow but lengthy finish. Need to go back and compare to the 15 or 18 year Macs. -
Heaven's Door Double Barrel Whiskey
Blended American Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed June 12, 2020Neat Nose: wheaty and oaky upfront, strong vanilla, baked apple pie spice, some toffee. Palate: rich! spicy cherries up front, fruity candied apples, heavy on the dark chocolate cherries. Moderate to lengthy finish. All around good one! Not as overwhelmingly molasses or sugary as Woodford double Oaked. -
Johnnie Walker Green Label 15 Year
Blended Malt — Scotland
Reviewed June 8, 2020 (edited September 23, 2020)Nose: Repeating finally gets more apple and fruit than anything with a hint of cereal or chocolate oat underneath. If I had to pin it down, I would say cinnamon spice and candied apple. Palate: smooth the whole way, aged well, but difficult flavor profiles. Salted Green apple initially... not very peaty or smoky. Maybe some floral notes but otherwise I got nothin. -
Michter's US*1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 7, 2020 (edited June 15, 2020)Neat, metal cube. Nose: pretty good nose. Sweet corn, French vanilla, some classic caramel / wheated chocolate. Palate: pretty short finish, more of the sweet corn on big sips and cinnamon raisin on the small sips. Not a ton of spicy character, relatively smooth. Not getting much fruit or nearly the wheat I got from the nose. -
High West A Midwinter Night's Dram
Rye — (bottled in) Utah, USA
Reviewed May 24, 2020 (edited September 1, 2020)Neat (Act 5 Scene 4) Nose: milky chocolate caramel. Palate: amazing complexity and range. Smoother than a babies bottom. Tastes to me like milky chocolate, or if you’ve ever been to a south / Central American country, tastes like Milo mix. -
Absolutely neat. Nose: rough nose, almost pungently oak, pepper, cinnamon, and I thought possibly anise was the only thing I could get close to making that nose. Or maybe oaky molasses. I don’t know. Honestly to the point that isn’t pleasant but you keep going back and trying to figure out what it is. Palate: things changed 180° with the palate. Immediately tangy, cherry, sweet with lots of complexity and turns every sip. Not a ton of spice, but a nice moderate length finish anyways. Favorite to date, even though I usually go for chocolate and wheat majority. Super fun!
