Joseph Magnus Triple Cask Finished Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (Finished and Bottled in Washington DC), USA
Reviewed January 14, 2021 (edited March 15, 2021)Sweet wood. Nice oak finish with some funk. Extremely approachable with nose of woody fruit (plum) with some grain. Easy drinking lovely dark honey with mild fruit, consistent sweet wood. Cognac shows up on second drink with more enhanced almost grape vibe. Finish is all wood. Very pleasant. -
Light in color, almost blonde quite clear - turnoff? Aroma: vanilla. Little else. No oak. little burn (40%) seems pleasant and approachable. Taste: sweet almost candy quality. Mostly vanilla, with apple fruitiness. Finally some light wood on the release. Overall: weekday whiskey. Not to be insulting, but sort of a starter. Might offer to someone not terribly acquainted with whiskey, is approachable and safe - nothing offensive at all. No burn, little depth. One note: friendly vanilla.
