Remus Repeal Reserve Series III (2019 Medley)
Bourbon — Indiana, USA
Reviewed October 26, 2020 (edited April 28, 2021)I have had a lot of different MGP in my day. But this one stands out as the best by a good margin. The nose smells of pure candy. Caramel, Vanilla, Raspberries, and honeyed raisins are all prevalent on the palate. The finish is medium with a nice candied oak that lingers in the background. This is a desert whiskey in it’s purest form. A little bit of rye spice since we are talking MGP here, but it’s aged so well that the spice is nice and rounded off. 11 and 12 year old blended MGP honey barrels for $79 a bottle?? Sign me up all day long. You pay way more than this for mic drop and four gate for a lesser product. Remus Repeal is one of the best kept secrets in bourbon and is one of my all time favorites after letting this bottle open up into the beauty it has become. -
Sam Houston 14 Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 20, 2020 (edited December 8, 2020)An ultra-aged bourbon that was done very well. For just under $120 I think this has amazing value. It drinks like a special occasion whiskey. Judging by the neck pour alone, the longer you let it open up in the glass your experience changes drastically. Sit with this one for about 30 minutes and watch it open up into a nice and complex sweet bourbon. Notes of Caramel, Vanilla, Leather, Tobacco, coconut, brown sugar. There are so many distinct notes in this one. An awesome bottle all around and worth the money. -
Woodford Reserve Master's Collection Batch Proof 123.6
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 23, 2020 (edited May 27, 2021)This is a top notch bourbon in all aspects and I don’t agree with the negatives that I’ve been seeing this get (almost all are completely based on price and not the whiskey). I think most people who appreciate bourbon can agree that regular Woodford reserve is one of the most quintessential bourbons out there. Ever since I first tried Woodford, I wanted to know what the barrel proof would taste like and I finally got my answer. This is a much more rich bourbon than the regular Woodford with all the same notes. It has an oily consistency that coats the palate extremely well and provides a smooth and lasting finish. I get brown butter, brown sugar, and maple syrup up front. I get a big cherry bomb on the mid palate with a nice spicy oak finish that sticks with you. I don’t believe bringing this up along with the double oaked does either bourbon justice as they are not even remotely trying to come across as the same bourbon. Also, I believe it’s extremely important to not let price affect a review and just judge the whiskey based on the whiskey itself. All things considered, this taste very much like a top shelf bourbon. It’s complex, highly drinkable, and all around a unique experience. I paid MSRP and don’t regret it in the slightest. After all, the best whiskey is the whiskey you like the way you like to drink it.130.0 USD per Bottle -
The first and only Whiskey I’ve ever given a perfect score on here. This is my favorite whiskey out there and turned me on to wheated bourbons forever. Most dominant notes for me are a candy sweet cherry up front, a nice brown sugar on the mid palate. Then a candied oak, almost like a honey roasted almond on the finish. I can’t brag highly enough on this one. The only downside is how rare it is to find around me. I’m always searching for the day that I find a whiskey that I like better than this. But I don’t see that day coming anytime soon. Give this one a shot if you can. You won’t be disappointed.

Barrell Whiskey Private Release AH13 Kentucky Whiskey Finished in German Ice Wine Barrel
Other Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 3, 2020 (edited September 3, 2021)This is an excellent whiskey. Especially if you’re a proof junkie like myself. Due to the ABV, it has a good bit of heat. But I was expecting it to be much hotter than what it is. The prominent notes for me are caramel, a hint of sour blueberry/blackberry, and a nice complex oak barrel punch on the finish. The finish on this one is longgg to say the least. The Ice Wine finish adds an entire new dimension to this whiskey that is unlike any other I’ve had to date. I highly recommend this bottle if you can get your hands on it. Truly a unique and outstanding whiskey. -
Michter's US*1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 25, 2020 (edited August 21, 2020)A fantastic bourbon. A bit more barrel punch than their American Whiskey. But very similar mouthfeel. Molasses and Raisins are the dominant notes that I get from this whiskey. 8.5/10 would definitely buy again. -
Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 30, 2020 (edited April 16, 2020)An exceptional bourbon in all aspects. Nose has an almost “hard candy” type of sweetness to it with a complimentary brown sugar note. The oak is present but not overbearing. Taste is very sweet up front but rounded off nicely by the heat and perfect amount of barrel punch. This will always be a staple in my collection.
