Spicy! Definitely getting the red-hots and agree that the sweetness saves it a bit. A few drops of water definitely helps. I prefer the small batch and the regular barrel proof.

Super heavy vanilla on the front that fades into the familiar bourbon flavors. Can feel/taste the oak and tannins, but really leaves the sweet taste in there.

It doesn't stand out, it's a smooth, pretty tasty scotch. I'd almost say a perfect starter for someone just getting into scotch. I'm more for big, bold flavors, so it's not my favorite, but it's not bad at all really.

Nice even and smooth whiskey with a malty, almost scorched caramel taste to it.

Butter and spices with a surprising root beer note in the nose. Barrel proof packs a punch and adds complexity to the profile, you keep the butter and spices and add some oaky flavors too. Definitely worth the hype!

The PX finish takes this Lagavulin to the next level. You get the Islay smoke and peat and a tiny bit of salt just like the regular lagavulin 16, but it's softened and smoothed out just a little bit. Lovely raisin and sherry sweetness really opened up with a few drops of water.

Smoky big start, not as many chemical component flavor tones as an Ardbeg or even a lagavulin, overall lighter than some of the more heavy hitting islays.

Nice entry/standard. Bright with vanilla and caramel notes and a long slight burn that sticks.

Nice light flavor, hits first with a musty barrel flavor that I find pleasant. Follows with a good rye spicy hit and a super smooth finish.
