George Dickel 17 Year Reserve Cask Strength
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed November 5, 2023Had the opportunity to taste this at the Cascade Hollow tour. My wife and I both liked it enough to buy a bottle. I notice more leather and tannin flavors in comparison to the Dickel 8 and No 12. Definitely a differance, especially in the finish. I personally think the nose and fruitiness are much more subtle, especially on the sweeter notes. I was pleased that it was not astringent. -
George Dickel 15 Year Tennessee Single Barrel
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed April 1, 2021 (edited April 3, 2021)I picked up this bottle locally in Stone Mountain GA for $48. Bottle #28 46.7% ABV. Sampled neat from a Glencairne Nose was mostly apple with some oak. Possibly a note of spice. Sweet with oak, and some sharp feel on the tongue. Not as smooth as I had hoped, but more depth than No. 12. It is way behind Russell’s 10 year in my opinion. I do prefer it to the Bottled in Bond Dickel. That offering just didn’t hit it for me. As a Dickel fan, glad I tried it and got to do so for under $50. I can only compare it to the three other aged Whisky I have tried, and it didn’t break into the top three. -
Russell's Reserve 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 18, 2020 (edited October 24, 2020)Sweet, almost cookie dough, with a hint of maple. Definite vanilla and oak flavors. Very smooth, very much what I hoped for.
