Comparable in quality and flavor profile to a Talisker, but a litte pricier - MSRP $80-90 a bottle. The nose conveys peat and ash, as from a chimney or a fireplace. On the palate, peat smoke and savory, salted smoked meats. Full, earthy flavor.

Complex, including peat smoke, which is the foremost flavor. But unlike in an Ardbeg, for example, it fades and allows room for other notes to be expressed. Seaweed, saltwater, and earthy savory tastes - is that dried meat? Barely any sweetness to be had. It’s tough to call a $70 bottle of liquor a bargain, but this is masterful stuff at a price within reach.

A classic, if perhaps unremarkable, Scotch. Standard 40% ABV. Strong, malty flavor gives way to an underlying confectionery sweetness.

A quintessential Scotch. Strong yet smooth, savory and sweet. You get a kick of malty flavor upon first taste, followed by hints of spice and a smooth, sweet finish feasturing some citrus notes.

Smokiness presents itself immediately, though not overpowering, definitely the dominant flavor up front. As expected with a blend of so many distinct flavors, there’s a lot going on. Other flavors emerge during the long finish.

Sweetness and spice from rum barrel influence are present, but not overwhelming; still more whisky than rum flavor. Relatively smooth all the way through.

An experience like no other from the moment you remove the cork; a campfire in a bottle. Intense peat smoke from nose to finish, which gives way to hints of sweetness, though the smoke stays with you long after you finish your tasting. Kerosene, burnt marshmallow, faint pipe/cigar smoke.

A great value Irish whiskey; one of the best daily drinkers. Oak and other woody notes from bourbon barrel aging. Beautiful reddish amber color. Savory finish.

One of the most mellow Scotches you’ll ever try. Smooth from nose to finish, which is not to say it doesn’t have plenty of flavor. Subdued notes of fruit and a little spice.

An oft-maligned whisky by snobs, and while it is undeniably overpriced, there’s much to like here. The blend features a lot going on, including notably a strong Islay peat influence.
